Job Description
MAGNET is seeking an experienced professional for the position of Program Director, Motor Vehicle and Parts Industry. This position supports a strategic initiative sponsored by the Ohio Department of Development; to improve the competitiveness of the motor vehicle and parts supply chain to accelerate the development of new products and expanded markets for suppliers impacted by the downturn in the automotive industry. The Program Manager will be the point of contact with MAGNET’s partners, Ohio State University CAR (Center for Automotive Research) and NorTech. The main focus of this position is to advise Ohio auto-manufacturing and supply companies of the services that MAGNET offers in training, on site and online, in “lean” management practices, quality-manufacturing processes and to refer auto-related companies to the high technology expertise of OSU’s automotive research center. The Program Manager will engage the auto industry companies in a variety of programs with the results to bolster the auto-sector competitiveness statewide. This is a new position, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Design and coordinate Motor Vehicle Supplier programs, events, workshops, and network cluster building
• Serve as spokesperson for MAGNET on Motor Vehicle and related supply chain issues
• Represent MAGNET on the Governor’s Auto/Manufacturing Task Force
• Establish relationships with CAR Michigan and other industry associations
• Implement a state wide Motor Vehicle Parts membership program with associated activities
• Host Motor Vehicle informational events, panel forums and webinars
• Identify and obtain funding to sustain Motor Vehicle Parts programs
• Categorize and distribute research data on the state of the Motor Vehicle Industry
• Attend regional events connected with the Motor Vehicle and Parts Industry
• Required ability to travel extensively
Essential Qualifications
• A highly capable business-oriented individual with approximately 10 years of experience working with OEM’s or companies in the automotive supply chain
• High levels of demonstrated creativity and initiative
• A proven history of successful public speaking and strong writing skills in executive settings aimed at advancing new ideas
• Knowledge of the auto-sector issues in the State of Ohio
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License and reliable transportation are essential
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field. A Master’s degree is desirable
