Cleveland—Cleveland Plus, a nonprofit that promotes the Northeast Ohio region, launched Cleveland Plus Living, an Internet portal that could save recruiters, human-resource officers and real estate agents hours of time promoting Northeast Ohio to individual job candidates.

Columbus—Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted says he and Gov. Ted Strickland have reached agreement on an energy bill that will affect electric bills for years to come. The House is expected to vote on the bill early this afternoon.


Lorain County Port Authority approves $3.8 million loan to geothermal energy company, by Brad Dicken, Lorain Chronicle-Telegram, April 22, 2008
Elyria—The county Port Authority approved a $3.8 million loan Monday for a geothermal energy company that plans to set up shop in Lorain. Ray DiTomas, vice president of Global Green Technologies and Solutions, said the money will be used to purchase drilling equipment that the company will use to install geothermal heating and cooling systems around the nation.

Ohio tops Midwest in health care investment dollars, by Mary Vanac, Cleveland Plain Dealer, April 21, 2008
Cleveland—Ohio snagged the most investment dollars in the Midwest for its health-care startups in the first quarter—$51.8 million. According to Bioenterprise's Midwest Health Care Venture Investment Report, the Cleveland region alone logged $34.8 million.


11 NE Ohio companies make Fortune 500 list, by Zachary Lewis, Cleveland Plain Dealer, April 21, 2008
Cleveland—Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Eaton Corp., Parker Hannifin Corp., Sherwin-Williams Co. and Timken Co.were the Northeast Ohio manufacturers on this year's Fortune 500 list. Among the Fortune 1,000 were Diebold, Lubrizol, NACCO Industries, RPM International, PolyOne, Lincoln Electric, Ferro, J.M. Smucker, Applied Industrial Technologies, A. Schulman and American Greetings.

American Axle strike forces GM to cut production, AP via Canton Repository, April 21, 2008
Detroit— General Motors Corp. says the eight-week strike at American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc. has forced it to cut production at two more factories. The strike has affected production at 30 GM factories in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Green, Ohio—Joseph Gingo became Schulman's president and CEO at the start of the year and immediately announced a 100-day plan to improve the performance of the Akron-based company. Canton—The Timken Co. announced it will add an industrial bearing manufacturing plant in Chennai, India, and an aerospace and precision products facility in Chengdu, China, giving it a total of seven manufacturing plants in Asia.
