| Avon No. 67 on Forbes list of growing cities, by Kate Giammarise, Morning Journal, August 10, 2007 Forbes magazine ranked Avon 67 out of the top 100 fastest-growing suburbs. Avon Mayor Jim Smith credits the community's schools, but adds that residential growth alone would not account for the suburb's growth. He says the community also added factories and industrial facilities that contribute taxes that allowed the city to expand its police and fire departments. ''If we just grew homes, we would be in deep trouble,'' Smith said. ''What's happened in Avon that's very unique is growing and increasing our financial stability.'' |
