About the Awards

The eVolution of Manufacturing awards were developed by Smart Business and MAGNET to recognize Northern Ohio manufacturers that best demonstrate excellence in adapting to a changing world.

Northern Ohio developed into a powerful manufacturing center through the hard work and process innovations of companies just like yours. Today, regional manufacturers stay competitive by integrating cutting-edge technology into traditional processes to run faster, leaner and more profitably. The eVolution of Manufacturing awards will honor between seven and 11 such organizations.

Judging will be conducted by a panel of experts and will be based on the applicant’s ability to adapt to a global economy and/or industry change. These include, but are not limited to:

• Process improvements, such as Six Sigma and lean manufacturing programs
• Technology integration
• Outsourcing, joint ventures and adaptation to globalization of manufacturing
• Product improvements, such as the design, development and commercialization of new products or services
• Operational efficiencies, such as reducing hard costs and improving bottom line results

Honorees will be notified in December 2007 and receive special coverage in the February 2008 edition of Smart Business. Honorees will also be invited to the recognition ceremony in February 2008, at the MAGNET Innovation Center.

Eligibility

Any business engaged in the manufacturing industry within the Northern Ohio region is eligible for an eVolution of Manufacturing award. Consultants and nonprofit organizations are not eligible.
