WKYC's Tim White to present new "Home Made" series

In October 2007, Channel 3 News began airing local success stories every-other Thursday at 7:00 pm

Cleveland—Because the manufacturing business in Northeast Ohio is thriving, WKYC’s Tim White profiles manufacturing success stories in a series called "Home Made."

White kicked off the series with the story of MAGNET member RPM International. Read the story or view the four-minute video segment on WKYC's Web site.

Beachwood firm invests in businesses on the brink, by Robert Schoenberger, Cleveland Plain Dealer, February 10, 2008
Beachwood, Ohio—Steve Rosen and Bassem Mansour, founders and co-chief executives of Resilience Capital Partners, believe they can find value and make money in factories throughout Northeast Ohio that other startup companies have ignored. Last month, the company announced one of its biggest deals yet -- a $44.2 million deal to buy bankrupt automotive supplier Delphi Corp.'s wheel bearings business and Sandusky plant. The PD interviewed MAGNET VP Bill Barnes for this Sunday business feature that considers the need for capital investment in the region's biggest industrial sector, manufacturing.

Regional high-tech sector turns from decline to growth

"The High Tech Sector in Northeast Ohio: 2007 Update," (PDF, 528k) identifies emerging trends in Northeast Ohio’s high-tech sector between 2004 and 2006.

The authors find evidence that, after several years of decline, the high-tech sector in Northeast Ohio, including advanced manufacturing, began to register solid gains between 2004 and 2006.

The study covers Northeast Ohio’s 21-county area consisting of six metropolitan regions—Cleveland-Elyria-Mentor, Akron, Canton-Massillon, Mansfield, Sandusky, and Youngstown-Warren-Boardman—and eight non-metropolitan counties.

The 2007 Update was commissioned by NorTech and prepared by the Center for Economic Development at Cleveland State University’s Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs.
