Geneva, Ohio—TEGAM Inc. has secured a three-year $1.2 million U.S. Air Force contract for power meters and will be the supplier of calibration instruments to Air Force bases in seven countries.

Cleveland—Gov. Ted Strickland will announce today that the newly formed Cleveland Health-Tech Corridor, stretching from University Circle to Cleveland State University, will be designated a "Hub of Opportunity and Innovation" by the state.

Macedonia, Ohio—The company said it intends to close the plant pending negotiations with United Steelworkers Local 48U. The Steelworkers could not be reached for comment.

Medina, Ohio—RPM said Bondex International Inc. and its holding company, Cleveland-based Specialty Products Holding Corp., filed for Chapter 11 on Monday in Delaware. The filing allows companies to continue operating as they undergo a court-approved reorganization.


3 former Diebold executives accused of accounting fraud, by Janet Cho, Cleveland Plain Dealer, June 2, 2010
Green, Ohio—The Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday filed a lawsuit formally accusing three former Diebold Inc. executives of using fraudulent accounting practices to misstate the company's earnings by at least $127 million.

Cleveland—Parma specialized materials company GrafTech International Ltd. has received a $1.15 million Department of Energy grant for its part in an experimental solar power plant. SENER, a Spanish engineering company, plans to build a series of solar towers in California using an energy storage system developed by GrafTech.

Benton Harbor, Mich.—The appliance maker said it is discontinuing the production of components made at the Michigan plant and making its latest laundry products at a location in Clyde, Ohio.

Denver—Details of the four-year agreement between Alcoa and the Steelworkers Union were not immediately available. It still must be ratified by union members in 10 states.

Cleveland—In its relentless pursuit of Canada's “Big Daddy” chromite deposit, Cleveland-based Cliffs Natural Resources has made good on its threat to attempt a hostile takeover of Ontario-based Spider Resources, which owns a stake in the deposit that would give Cliffs control over Big Daddy.

Washington—The Institute for Supply Management, a trade group of purchasing executives, said Tuesday its manufacturing index dipped to 59.7 in May from 60.4 in April. A level above 50 indicates expansion.
